Gushin Optics History

1965

Military Foundation

State‑owned Jinguang Instrument Factory (military code Factory 268) was established in Huaying Mountain, Sichuan, as a key project under the national “Third Front” strategy. In its first year of operation, it achieved the remarkable feat of “design, construction, commissioning, and production all in one year,” laying the cornerstone for precision optical manufacturing.

1970s

Technological Accumulation

The factory became a major producer of military optical instruments, including anti‑aircraft gun command sights, cannon sights, and machine‑gun sights. In 1978, the Type 74 Anti‑aircraft Gun Fire‑avoidance Inspection Instrument received the National Science Conference Award – the highest national recognition of its technical excellence.

1980s

Military‑to‑Civilian Transition

Responding to the national “military‑to‑civilian” conversion, Factory 268 co‑developed the Pearl River S‑201 SLR camera (ranked first in national quality) and introduced Pentax K1000 technology to produce the Pearl River S‑207 (winner of the national quality competition). Simultaneously, it began manufacturing civilian rifle scopes and binoculars, bringing military‑grade precision to the public market.

1996

Relocation to Chengdu

The entire factory was moved from the mountains of Huaying to Xindu District, Chengdu, preserving its core technical team, production equipment, and manufacturing expertise – a strategic step that paved the way for future global expansion.

2003

Birth of Gushin Optics

Former factory technical backbone Li Yuncai founded Chengdu Meike Optoelectronic Instrument Co., Ltd. and launched the international brand Gushin Optics, specialising in rifle scopes, binoculars, and precision optical instruments – carrying forward the legacy of Factory 268.

2008

Innovation & Expansion

We expanded our product range to include advanced laser rangefinders and night vision devices, becoming a trusted OEM partner for globally renowned brands and demonstrating our commitment to continuous innovation.

2015

Global‑Standard Manufacturing

Our factory underwent a major upgrade with state‑of‑the‑art optical testing equipment and precision assembly lines, enabling us to meet the highest international quality and capacity standards.

2020

Chongqing Gushin Outdoor LLC Established

Building on 17 years of manufacturing excellence, we officially established Chongqing Gushin Outdoor LLC to provide comprehensive OEM and ODM solutions worldwide under the Gushin Optics brand.
